Free download / Pricing framework

What to charge: a pricing framework for multi-asset operators.

Stop pricing off gut and the cheapest shop in the county. Build your number from your own costs, in an afternoon.

Before the gate

What this is.

Most operators set a price one of two ways: they guess, or they match whoever is cheapest nearby. Both leave money on the table, and neither tells you whether you are actually making anything after the truck rolls back in.

This is the other way. You build a floor from your own costs, add the margin you need, and walk into every quote knowing the number below which you are working for free. It takes an afternoon and a rough handle on your own numbers. No benchmark, no "the average operator charges X," because your yard is not the average yard.

What is inside

The whole framework, section by section.

5 sections, listed below with what each one holds. Every count on this page is read out of the document itself, so what you see here is what lands when you unlock it.

Read a section before you decide.

This is section 1 of 5, reproduced from the framework exactly as it appears in the document. Nothing in the box was rewritten for this page.

The rest is the same shape: 5 sections and about 420 words in total. If the box below is not worth an email address to you, the other sections will not change that, and that is a fair answer.

Section 1 of 5

Find your true cost to place one asset

Not the sticker price of the dumpster. The cost of one placement, start to finish. For a typical job, add up:

  • The drive out and the drive back, fuel plus the driver's time
  • The load and unload time
  • A share of fixed overhead per job, which is your monthly overhead divided by the jobs you run in a month
  • Consumables, like straps and blocks, or cleaning for restrooms

Reproduced from the framework. The other 4 sections follow the same format.

You get a floor

What one placement actually costs you, start to finish, before margin. Your fuel, your hours, your overhead.

You get the dwell cost

What an asset has to earn while it sits, so a long rental stops looking like free money.

You get a walk-away number

The price below which you are paying to work, so a cheap job is a choice you made rather than one the market made for you.

Get the framework.

Free, printable, yours to keep. The email is the whole ask: no truck count, no company name, nothing else is collected here.

Your address goes on the founding-operator list, which is how the founder reaches operators directly. Reply to any message to come off it. The framework stays yours either way.
